Angier Rotary supported the District’s Service day on April 17th by helping the non-profit Santa & Friends owners with some yardwork. Angier Rotary and Santa & Friends nonprofit (facebook.com/santa.friends.santa) have been working together to support our community for a few years now. Santa & Friends spearheaded a recent Easter Basket and stuffed animal gifting to Retirement/Sr. living facilities for the staff and residents. Angier Rotarians donated snacks for this effort. Angier Rotarians worked with the Santa & Friends throughout 2020 helping families in need and shut-ins with masks, groceries and cleaning products. We were so pleased to be able to give-back to the nonprofit owners during the service day distributing soil to fill in driveway holes so the driveway would be ready for a new layer of gravel. Together with boyscout families from Angier’s Troop 125, Rotarians moved dirt from some trees to fill holes around the driveway and also moved an azalea bush. We plan to help again placing gravel along the driveway when they’re ready. Santa was so Thankful, we each received ‘You’ve been Caught Being Good’ cards. You’re never too young or old to receive such cards from Santa!
Rotarians also worked with volunteers at the Angier-based nonprofit ‘Crossing All Borders’ unloading a large donations truck, painting a room, sorting clothing and medical kits components among other activities that support their many missions. Every Saturday, Crossing All Borders has an indoor Yard Sale and will soon have a Christian Bookstore with proceeds going toward their many missions locally and abroad- check them out at Crossing All Borders Ministry. Angier Rotary is collaborating to obtain 100 hygiene kits from Lane & Associates dentistry for Crossing All Borders staff/volunteers to provide to local homeless camps and to take to the Dominican Republic in May.
Both nonprofits support each other too as we just learned that Santa & Friends donated a horizontal freezer to Crossing all Borders to keep foods for donations and frozen treats for volunteers! That’s going full circle with true collaboration!
