The Boys and Girls Home of North Carolina at Lake Waccamaw “Rotary Day” this year was Saturday, March 25, 2023. We are truly humbled! Thank you!
The Rotary Club of Angier sent out the call and The Heart of Angier answered!! This is beyond amazing and a true, true blessing for The Boys And Girls Home of Lake Waccamaw.
After enjoying some delicious Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast at The Depot, we traveled for a heart-warming day at Lake Waccamaw. Area Rotary Clubs in Districts 7710 and 7730 support a boys cabin, titled the Rotary Cabin, by donating funds, donating items for the B&G Home’s General Store and collaborating on grounds enhancements. We celebrate these wonderful children each year on their designated Rotary Day.
We learned there are 16 seniors graduating from the on-campus charter school in June2023. Many are going either to college or vocational school or are taking vocational courses during high school so they have training for jobs. Many work in the General Store and also with the Equine Exhibition center on-site. The Equestrian program holds horse shows to include non-Home members as another way of learning responsibility and bringing other funds to the Home. 
The B&G Home houses 6 teen moms with babies with the focus to teach them how to care for themselves and their babies and to learn skills for making a living. Just as with the other children living at the Home, much love and mentoring is provided in hopes they can live on their own or reunite with their families if it’s a conducive/productive environment or possibly enter into a Foster family.
