Angier Rotary hosted their 3rd Annual Flags for Heroes event June 11-18, 2022. We are very thankful for the support the community provided in sponsoring flags to honor their Heroes, whether living among us or those who have passed.
We had flags sponsored for individuals and for groups. Flags were flown in their honor the entire week with dedications made during the Opening Ceremony on June 11th. This year marks the U.S. Army’s 247th Birthday. The U.S. Army was the first established and is the oldest Military Service of the U.S. We are happy to celebrate with all our service members and community members, the many heroes that make our community a wonderful place to live and keep our freedoms secure. Many THANKS to Brock & Colleen Nicholson, of the NC Vietnam Helicopter Pilots Association for bringing the vintage helicopter to explore during the Opening Ceremony and sharing the history of the Association- see the NCVHPA Facebook page to learn more about this Clayton-based organization.
- Jeff Barnes Auto for allowing the event to occur on their property
- Town of Angier from the support of our downtown staff, police and fire personnel during the event
- Army SFC Brant Ireland of USASOC Ft Bragg for providing Opening Remarks
- Ellington Studios and The Inspired Music Studios for preparing vocalists to perform during the Opening and Closing ceremonies

Last year we were blessed to have the Ft Bragg Black Daggers Parachute unit drop in paratroopers with flags that we raffled for local community supporters to have a momento. What an exciting time to witness the precision of these paratroopers guiding their parachutes to the landing spot across the street!
